Gloves For Kids set for June 11

KANSAS CITY -- On Monday, June 11, fans will have the chance to help provide baseball equipment to Kansas City's disadvantaged youth at the annual Gloves For Kids event presented by Royals broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre and Dick's Sporting Goods.

The event will be held at the Dick's Sporting Goods located in the Town Center Plaza (11801 Nall Ave. in Leawood, Kan.) from 6-8 p.m. A $20 donation will go directly to the purchasing of new baseball gloves for area youth baseball players with a portion of the equipment purchased being distributed to Greensburg, Kan., youth baseball programs. Each fan that donates at least $20 will receive a $5 certificate for Dick's Sporting Goods.

Created in 2001 by Lefebvre's Footprint Foundation, the Gloves For Kids event has raised more than $55,000 to provide new baseball gloves for Kansas City area youth.

Royals players scheduled to appear include:

Catcher John Buck
Outfielder David DeJesus
Pitcher Jimmy Gobble
Third Baseman Alex Gordon
First Baseman Ryan Shealy
Outfielder Mark Teahen

Fans who participate will be allowed to have one autographed item by select Royals players during that session. One group of Royals players will sign from 6-7 p.m. and the other from 7-8 p.m. Royals mascot Sluggerrr will also be present at the event.
