Royals Charities surpasses $3 million mark in donations 04/30/2008 4:24 PM ETMLB.com
KANSAS CITY -- Royals Charities, the charitable arm of the Kansas City Royals, is pleased to announce a donation of $230,000 in the 2008 spring grant cycle to 14 non-profit organizations through its Royals Charities Grant Program. With this contribution, Royals Charities surpasses the $3 million mark donated to Kansas City area charities since 2001. "Reaching the $3 million mark in contributions is a testament to the continued commitment of the entire Royals family and our fans to the Kansas City community and region," said Royals President Dan Glass. "We are pleased to donate to these non-profit organizations and look forward to supporting such charitable causes in the future." Agencies receiving grants through the spring grant cycle include: Susan G. Komen Foundation of Greater Kansas City *in memory of Donna Stewart, late wife of 2008 Royals Hall of Fame inductee Art Stewart The Niles Home American Liver Foundation The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Heartland Hoops Kansas City Crime Commission Rose Brooks NAIA Jackie Robinson Foundation Negro Leagues Baseball Museum Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund Autism Alliance of Greater Kansas City Southern Youth Sports, Nebraska - Royalty Fields grant recipient Lone Jack Athletic Club, Missouri - Royalty Fields grant recipient Kearney County Community Foundation, Nebraska - Royalty Fields grant recipient This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.
