KANSAS CITY -- As part of Fan Appreciation Weekend, Royals Charities will host "Shirts Off Their Backs" to benefit Operation Breakthrough on Saturday, Sept. 20 during the Royals-Chicago White Sox game at Kauffman Stadium. Game time is set for 6:10 p.m.

The "Shirts Off Their Backs" event gives fans the opportunity to win an autographed jersey right off the back of their favorite Royals player. Throughout the game, Royals Charities will join Operation Breakthrough volunteers to sell $1 instant-win scratch tickets. Following the game, the winners will be escorted to the field where they will receive a game-worn jersey directly from one of the Royals.

All proceeds from the "Shirts Off Their Backs" event will benefit Operation Breakthrough, a Kansas City-based organization that helps children who are living in poverty develop to their fullest potential by providing them a safe, loving and educational environment. Since 1971, Operation Breakthrough, a nationally accredited, not-for-profit corporation, has been providing a broad range of social services to meet the needs of underprivileged children in the community. In 2006, Operation Breakthrough completed an expansion and renovation project that doubled the size of the facility and increased its licensed capacity from 353 children to 674. Operation Breakthrough - a United Way Agency - relies on the generosity of the community to continue its work.

Fans may purchase tickets for the Sept. 20 Royals-White Sox game online at, by calling 1-800-6ROYALS, at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office or at any of the metro area Hy-Vee stores.
