Royals announce promotions and special events, new ticket initiatives for 200902/28/2009 10:54 AM ET
The Kansas City Royals announce plans to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Kauffman Stadium in 2009 with the debut of several exciting ticket initiatives and an extensive calendar of promotions and special events. The lineup features great giveaways, the return of fan favorites, and the introduction of season-long ticket options that allow fans to experience all the offerings of the renovated stadium at exceptional values.
Single-game tickets for all 2009 regular season home games, including a limited number of Opening Day tickets, go on sale Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m. Tickets will be available online at royals.com, by phone at 1-800-6ROYALS, at metro area Hy-Vee stores and at the Kauffman Stadium ticket windows. Opening Day tickets will not be available for purchase at Hy-Vee locations.
Highlights from the 2009 lineup of events, as well as details on some of the club's new ticket opportunities, are listed below. In addition, the complete special events lineup is attached and can also be found at royals.com. Please note all dates and times are subject to change.NEW FOR 2009
The Royals are introducing new ticket programs that allow fans to enjoy the new K at some of the best prices in Major League Baseball.
DRI DUCK Fountain Seats: New in 2009, DRI DUCK Fountain Seats, located in left field, are available for just $7, marking the lowest ticket price offered at Kauffman Stadium since the 2001 season. Reminiscent of the popular "GA" seats, the DRI DUCK Fountain Seats can be purchased only on the day of the game (excluding Opening Day). The first 100 fans arriving at the section each game receive a special edition Royals cap made exclusively by DRI DUCK. The featured cap design will change throughout the season.
Bob Evans Bases Loaded 4-Packs: Fans can receive four tickets in the View Level Infield for $60 with each ticket including $10 in loaded value for concessions and merchandise. Bases Loaded packages are available for all Friday and Sunday games, excluding Opening Day.
Royal Nites: Royal Nites return to Kauffman Stadium in 2009. Royal Nites feature $5 Upper Level tickets (excluding View Box) for all Monday games, excluding September 21. To kick off the revival of Royal Nites on April 13, the Royals also will offer special $5 GA parking to fans attending the game.SPECIAL EVENTS LINEUP
Girls' Night Out - Double the Royal Treatment: Due to popular demand, ladies receive the Royal treatment twice in 2009. The first Girls' Night Out event, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is set for Thursday, May 14, while the second installment, supporting the American Heart Association, is slated for Thursday, September 24. The first 10,000 females through the gates for each game will receive a Royals cap or shirt. Details on ticket packages, which will include a $5 donation to the respective charity, are available at royals.com/girlsnightout.
Kansas City Sky Show: The Royals are excited to bring the Second Annual Kansas City Sky Show back to Kauffman Stadium on Friday, June 12. The Sky Show is the largest fireworks spectacular in Kansas City, and this year's show will celebrate 40 years of Royals fans.
Royals Hall of Fame Classic: The Kansas City Royals will host the Royals Hall of Fame Classic presented by Willie Wilson Baseball and Farmland Foods on Friday, July 17 at Kauffman Stadium. The event is in conjunction with the grand opening of the Royals Hall of Fame. The Classic, which will feature Royals greats in an exhibition game against former MLB stars, is set to start at 5 p.m. prior to the Royals-Tampa Bay Rays 7:10 p.m. game. During both games on July 17, the Royals will host a silent auction that will feature unique memorabilia including an opportunity to bid on the game jerseys worn by all the players participating in the Classic. Fans are encouraged to visit royals.com often to see the most up-to-date list of players scheduled to participate in the game.
Faith and Family Day: Following the Royals Sunday, June 14 game versus the Reds at 1:10 p.m., fans will be treated to a free postgame concert on the field by MercyMe.
610 Saturdays are Back: After a successful debut in 2008, 610 Saturdays are back and better than ever. Now hosted in the new Outfield Plaza, the Royals will team up with Entercom Radio to bring great food and live music to Saturday pregame festivities. 610 Saturdays will begin at 4 p.m.
Retro Nights: In conjunction with the club's 40th Anniversary celebration, the Royals host three Retro Nights in 2009. Fans will enjoy entertainment, in-game features and special "throw-back" tickets for each of the Retro Nights, offering some of the same prices offered in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Retro Night prices include $6 Lower Level tickets on June 17 during the "Summer of '69" celebration, $5 Upper level tickets on July 22 during the 1970s celebration, and $3 "GA" seats and $10 Lower Level tickets on August 5 during the 1980s celebration.RETURNING KAUFFMAN STADIUM FAVORITES
Buck Nights: A small twist to an old favorite. During four select Fridays - April 24, May 15, July 3, and September 4 - and three Wednesdays- June 17, August 5, and September 23 - throughout the season, fans can purchase hot dogs, small Pepsis, peanuts and mini-pretzels for just $1 each. The Royals also offer a special holiday version of Buck "Day" to help celebrate Memorial Day when the Royals host the Detroit Tigers in a 1:10 p.m. game on May 25.
Hy-Vee/Pepsi Fireworks Fridays: It's a Kauffman Stadium tradition. Stay in your seats for a spectacular fireworks show after Friday night home games. Hy-Vee/Pepsi Fireworks Fridays are scheduled for April 24, May 15 and 29, June 19, July 17 and 24, August 7 and 21, and September 4 and 25.
College Nights: On Wednesdays, the Royals offer $7 Outfield Box or View Level Box tickets for high school and college students with a valid ID. Three nights include Buck Night specials, while nine Wednesdays include Happy Hour food and beverage specials in the K's new Outfield barbeque area.
Sprint Fun Run: All fans can run the bases after every Sunday home game (conditions permitting).
Military Mondays: The Royals continue to honor individuals in all branches of military service with the Military Mondays program. All active and retired military personnel may show a valid Military ID at any Monday home game and get up to four free Outfield Box or View Box tickets.
Half-Price Military Program: Fans with a valid Military ID may purchase up to four half-price tickets for all regular season Sunday through Friday games, excluding premium dates.ADDITIONAL WAYS TO SAVE
Jackson County Days: The Royals continue to offer half-price Field Plaza, View Box or Outfield Box tickets on 15 select dates to all residents of Jackson County, Mo. Visit royals.com for a complete listing of eligible games.
