Royals return to face division rivals Detroit, Chicago05/22/2009 1:55 PM ET
KANSAS CITY, MO (May 22, 2009) - The Kansas City Royals return from a weekend series in St. Louis to host the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox from May 25 to 31.
Please note that all stadium gates will open at 3:00 p.m. on May 30 to accommodate the Monarchs replica jersey giveaway. In light of the overwhelming response to recent jersey giveaways, the club will have additional staff in place and anticipates that the items will go quickly. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and can receive their jersey at any gate (two sizes available while quantities last, no exchange tables). One jersey will be distributed per fan, per ticket. Fans wishing to obtain multiple jerseys must exit and re-enter with a new ticket.
Monday, May 25 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m. Promotions:
Buck "Night" presented by Independence Honda: Hot dogs, small Pepsis, peanuts, and Royals Gameday Magazines are just $1 each, all afternoon long!
Royal "Nite": Fans can get $5 tickets in the View Level Infield, Hy-Vee Box and Hy-Vee View Level Sections.
27th Annual Royals Wives Food Drive (May 25-30): The 27th Annual Royals Wives Food Drive to benefit Harvesters - the Community Food Network of Kansas City - and St. James Place in Kansas City, Mo., will take place from Monday, May 25 through Saturday, May 30. The drive is highlighted by daily food collections, special fundraiser nights in the Outfield Experience, a premier concourse auction and player appearances at local Hy-Vee stores. Late Royals Hall of Fame pitcher Dan Quisenberry and his wife, Janie Quisenberry Stone, started the Royals Wives Food Drive in 1983. Fans can visit royals.com/community for the entire schedule of events.
John Buck's BUCKAROOS: Catcher John Buck hosts children from the State of Missouri Foster Care System in the "BUCKAROOS" section. Participants receive complimentary tickets, food coupons, and special "BUCKAROOS" T-shirts. Buck will also have a meet and greet with the kids prior to the game.
Guillen's Gamers (May 25-31): For 68 home games this season, outfielder Jose Guillen will host children in the "Guillen's Gamers" section, giving them the opportunity to experience the thrill of Major League Baseball.
Tuesday, May 26 - Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.
Dream Factory: Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wish of a Dream Factory child. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV 10 p.m. newscast.

Ink College "Night" Happy Hour: Come out to "The K" for a matinee Ink College Night! On Wednesday, the Royals offer $7 Outfield Box or Field Plaza tickets for high school and college students with a valid ID shown at the Box Office. Food and beverage specials are available at Outfield Experience concession areas.
Friday, May 29 - Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m. Promotions:
Hy-Vee/Pepsi Fireworks Friday: Fans get treated to a fireworks spectacular courtesy of Hy-Vee and Pepsi following the Royals contest with the Chicago White Sox.

Royals Wives Concourse Auction: As part of the Annual Royals Wives Food Drive, Royals Wives will host a premier concourse auction during the White Sox-Royals game. The auction, which will feature one-of-a-kind Royals memorabilia and Players Favorite-Things Baskets, will be held in the Outfield Experience across from Rivals Sports Bar from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Proceeds from the auction will benefit St. James Place.

Salute to the Negro Leagues Day: The Royals and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum pay tribute to Kansas City's rich baseball tradition with this annual salute. Kansas City will wear the home uniforms of the 1924 Kansas City Monarchs while Chicago will don the road uniforms of the 1926 Chicago American Giants. The day will include several tributes to the Negro Leagues including recognition of former Negro League players during the pregame ceremonies. A pregame party presented by Hy-Vee and Pepsi will take place near the All-Star Barbeque in right field from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will feature $1 Farmland hot dogs and Pepsis. An autograph session will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. featuring Negro League veterans Bill Bell, Ulysses Hollimon, Earnest Johnson, Art Pennington, Jesse Rogers, and Alvin Spearman, former Kansas City A's Joe Azcue and Diego Segui, Negro League umpire Bob Motley and DeMorris Smith, son of Hall of Famer Hilton Smith.
Baseball Night In Kansas City: 610 Saturday: Celebrate 40 years of Royals baseball with special activities in the Outfield Experience! This 610 Saturday pre-game party includes a remote from 610 Sports, live music, activities for fans of all ages, and food and drink specials.
Player Appearances at Hy-Vee: Royals players Mike Aviles, Willie Bloomquist, Billy Butler, David DeJesus, Mitch Maier and Mark Teahen will visit area Hy-Vee stores in Gladstone (7117 N. Prospect), Lee's Summit (310 SW Ward Road), and Overland Park (8900 W. 135th St.) from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as part of the Royals Wives Food Drive. Two players will be at each store to sign autographs for a $5 donation or five cans of food.
Operation Breakthrough - Two Teams, One Goal: The Royals join forces with the Kansas City Chiefs to feed more than 3,000 needy people in Kansas City. Along with more than 200 volunteers, the clubs will distribute Operation Blessing's food and toys from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the former Interstate Bakeries parking lot (30th and Troost) in Kansas City, Mo. The event is not open to the public.
Sunday, May 31 - Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m. Promotions:
CoCo Key Water Resort Day: The first 10,000 kids 12 and under will receive a free admission to CoCo Key Water Resort. The pass is good from August to November, any day of the week.
Sprint Fun Run: Fans of all ages can head to the field following the Royals series finale with the Chicago White Sox to run the bases in the Sprint Fun Run.
