Royals Announce New and Extended Partnerships for 201103/28/2011 4:58 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals announced today several new corporate partners, in addition to partnership extensions with several existing sponsors, as the club heads into the 2011 season.
Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue: As previously announced, Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue - recognized as the country's best barbecue by the prestigious Zagat Survey - will serve as the exclusive tailgate caterer of Royals home games. Through the partnership, Royals fans interested in catering their parking lot tailgate parties will be able to choose from a variety of buffet menus featuring Jack Stack's hickory-smoked meats, grilled items and signature sides.
Ivy Funds: A leading mutual fund family, Ivy Funds will have a presence at Royals games beginning in 2011. Ivy Funds is an affiliate of Waddell & Reed, headquartered locally and with a heritage of assisting investors meet their long term financial goals for nearly 75 years.
Jose Pepper's: Jose Pepper's, a Mexican cuisine favorite in Kansas City for over 20 years, will operate four locations in Kauffman Stadium beginning this season. The ballpark menu will feature Jose Pepper's famous espinaca - a luscious blend of jalapeno cheese, onions, tomatoes and spinach served with tortilla chips.
Missouri Lottery: For 2011, the Royals will partner with the Missouri Lottery, which has contributed more than $3.9 billion to the state of Missouri and its public education programs and generates more than $250 million for vital education programs each year. The Missouri Lottery will honor Missouri public school teachers with the "Heroes in the Classroom" promotion at one Royals home game each month.
The University of Kansas Hospital: Also previously announced is the club's new partnership with The University of Kansas Hospital. As the official healthcare provider of the Royals, The University of Kansas Hospital will provide medical services to the team as well as first aid services for fans at every home game. In addition, the partnership includes Health Awareness Days and several on-site visits to The University of Kansas Hospital featuring players, alumni, Sluggerrr and front office personnel.
U.S. Toy: U.S. Toy joins the Royals family as the official sponsor of the Blue Crew Youth Fan Club and the popular Little K field located in the Outfield Experience. The company, which strives to inspire learning, creativity and fun in children, will also serve as the presenting sponsor of Sluggerrr, the club's official mascot.
In addition to these new partnerships, the Royals are pleased to continue long-standing relationships with several other highly-regarded companies.
Blue Cross Blue Shield: Blue Cross Blue Shield has expanded its partnership by becoming the presenting sponsor of the club's Royals Scholastic Victory Program (RSVP), which combines the game of baseball with school curriculum and hands-on learning activities for students in grades 3-8. In addition, Blue Cross Blue Shield will also team up with the Royals on new health initiatives.
John Deere: John Deere, an innovator in agriculture and turf products for nearly 175 years, returns as the official sponsor of the Royals Grounds Crew. As such, John Deere will continue to provide landscaping equipment for the Royals field and grounds.
Kansas City Area Chevy Dealers: The Royals will continue to partner with the Kansas City Area Chevy Dealers to promote Chevy Youth Baseball. Chevrolet, the official vehicle of Major League Baseball, promotes youth baseball in communities across the country through a grassroots, community outreach program in which participating leagues may receive equipment and unique Major League Baseball experiences such as tickets to a Royals home game and exclusive instructional clinics.
Teva Neuroscience: Teva Neuroscience, which operates a large subsidiary in the Kansas City area, returns as a Royals partner for the upcoming season. In addition to supporting several community outreach events such as Royals FanFest, Teva Neuroscience will also sponsor a Nurse Appreciation Night in May.
