Dancing With The 'Stros presented by Minute Maid was a huge success on September 15! The Astros Foundation's first-time charitable fundraiser featured professional dancers paired with Astros players, performing on stage at the House of Blues to riotous laughter and applause. The five Astros "dancers" were judged by the other 2013 players, who gave their ratings and humorous comments to each teammate following their performance. The results were:
Honkey-Tonk Badonk- A- Donk Award: Trevor Crowe
Hips Don't Lie Award: Jose Altuve
Moves Like Jagger Award: Jarred Cosart
Bringing Sexy Back Award: Jake Elmore
2013 Dancing with the Stros Grand Prize Winner: Dallas Keuchel
The charitable fundraiser raised nearly $200,000 for the Astros Foundation. At the event, Minute Maid executive Fred Arnold announced that the company will nearly triple its support for the team's Urban Youth Academy in northwest Houston and expand its free Grand Slam for Youth Baseball and Softball program in partnership with the Astros Foundation.
Urban Youth Academy member, Astros bat boy and 17 year old high school senior Nate Crawford, received a standing ovation after delivering a moving talk about how his life was changed by the UYA. Afterwards, Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow presented Crawford with a team autographed bat and Minute Maid awarded him a $2,500 Grand Slam for Youth college scholarship.Read more
