Jan. 16-18, 21-23 - 2008 Royals Caravan
The Royals will celebrate the New Year with a winter tradition -- the Royals Caravan! Royals players, coaches, alumni, front office staff and Sluggerrr will visit several communities throughout the Midwest in anticipation of the 2008 season. Each winter, the Caravan visits schools, hospitals, shopping malls and radio stations to meet with fans across the Heartland.

Thursday, Jan. 17 - Mark Teahen...Challenge Your Fashion
Royals outfielder Mark Teahen hosts the "Challenge Your Fashion" fashion show at 5:30 p.m. at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kan. Teahen, along with several of his teammates, will model fashions from Halls and mingle with guests in an effort to raise funds to benefit the YMCA of Greater Kansas City Challenger Division Baseball Program. Friday, Jan. 18 - Forecast Luncheon
The Greater Kansas City Sports Commission will host the 16th Annual Baseball Forecast Luncheon at the Downtown Marriott, located at 200 West 12th St. in Kansas City, Mo. The event, which will feature current players and Royals front office executives, is set to begin at noon. Royals alumni visit the Kansas City VA Medical Center for the National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week. The Department of Veterans Affairs National has conducted the Salute since 1978 and is traditionally observed during the week of Valentine's Day.

Friday, April 4 - 10th Annual RBI First Pitch Luncheon
The Royals join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City to host the annual First Pitch Luncheon at Kauffman Stadium. Potential donors are asked to support the Reviving Baseball in the Inner City (RBI) program through Team Sponsorship or other donations. Featured speaker to be announced.
Tuesday, April 8 - Greater Kansas City Day
On Opening Day, the Royals team up with more than 1,600 volunteers to sell a special Royals edition of the Kansas City Star throughout the city. Proceeds from the sales help send kids to Rotary Youth Camp and other deserving children's charities.
Wednesday, April 9 - Welcome Home Luncheon
The entire team returns to Kansas City to join more than 700 fans at the 2008 Welcome Home Luncheon at The Westin Crown Center to help launch another season of big league action at Kauffman Stadium. During the luncheon, fans welcome back their favorite players, meet the newest Royals and get an exclusive look at the 2008 season!
Thursday, April 10 - Brian Bannister and Dayton Moore at Overland Park Mayor's Prayer Breakfast
Royals pitcher Brian Bannister and General Manager Dayton Moore are scheduled to appear at the 32nd Annual Overland Park Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. The event, taking place at the Overland Park Marriott Hotel located at 10800 Metcalf in Overland Park, Kan., begins at 6:45 a.m. Tickets are on sale now at Valley View Bank, 95th & Metcalf, and Homer's Coffee House, 80th & Metcalf, in Overland Park.
Friday, April 11 - Autism Awareness Night at "The K" and Concourse Auction
The Royals partner with the Autism Alliance of Greater Kansas City for "Autism Awareness Night at The K." A first pitch will be thrown by Jason McElwin, a former high school basketball student manager with autism spectrum disorder who obtained national attention after scoring 20 points in the final four minutes of a basketball game in 2006. In addition, a silent auction will be held near section 101-102 of Kauffman Stadium during the game to benefit the Autism Alliance.
Saturday, April 12 – Sluggerrr Appearance
In celebration of YMCA Healthy Kids Day, Sluggerrr will make a special appearance at the Kansas City Zoo's Second Saturday Kids Fun Fest. Stop by and meet Sluggerrr from 11 a.m. to noon. YMCA Healthy Kids Day community-based events make fitness fun and teach children healthy behavior and healthy ways to play - an essential lesson that will serve them throughout their lives. Royals make Dandi Daley Mackall's dream of being a batgirl come true! Dandi, who was once denied the right to be a batboy for the 1961 Kansas City A's because of her gender, will be the honorary batgirl for the Royals-Indians 7:10 p.m. game and will sit in the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat. Prior to the game, Dandi will read from her book
A Girl Named Dan, which details her true story, to some students at Roesland Elementary School, 4900 Parish in Shawnee Mission, Kan., at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, April 23 - Baseball Tomorrow Fund Check Presentation
The Baseball Tomorrow Fund, which partners with the Royals for the Baseball Equipment Drive, will present the Guadalupe Centers, Inc. with a $5,000 donation. The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is designed to promote and enhance the growth of baseball by funding programs, field improvements and equipment, along with encouraging youth participation in baseball and softball.

General Manager Dayton Moore joins Manager Trey Hillman as guest speakers at Midwestern Baptist University.
Friday, April 25 - Baseball Equipment Drive
The Royals and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund team up to collect new and gently used baseball equipment for a local youth organization in the area. In addition, the organization selected will receive a $5,000 grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund.
Sunday, April 27 - First Autograph Afternoon of the Season

Two of Kansas City's young stars - Billy Butler and David DeJesus - will meet fans and sign autographs at the new Sprint store at The Legends at Village West in Kansas City, Kan. DeJesus will appear from 11 a.m. to noon with Butler following from noon to 1 p.m.
Saturday, May 10 - Ryan Lefebvre Glove Distribution
Royals Broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre will present new baseball gloves to first-year players in the Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities League (RBI) at 10 a.m. prior to league games at Cleveland Park, located at 43rd Street and Cleveland Ave. in Kansas City, Mo. RBI, along with Greensburg (Kan.) Public Schools were recipients of the 2007 Gloves For Kids event.

Sunday, May 11 - Breast Cancer Awareness Day
The Royals partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure for Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Breast cancer survivors will be honored in the Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat as well as lead the crowd in the singing of "God Bless America" and participate in the Dodge Honorary Lineup prior to first pitch. Monday, May 12 - Gloves for Kids
Gloves for Kids is hosted by Royals Announcer Ryan Lefebvre's Footprints Foundation at Dick's Sporting Goods on 119th and Nall in Leawood, Kan., from 6-8 p.m. Royals Billy Butler, David DeJesus, Alex Gordon, Mark Teahen AND OTHERS will join Lefebvre to sign autographs for fans who donate money for new baseball gloves for underprivileged youth baseball players. A $20 donation will go directly to the purchasing of new baseball gloves and other equipment for area youth baseball players.

Royals catcher John Buck visits the 2008 Heart Gallery at Crown Center in Kansas City, Mo., from noon to 1 p.m. The Heart Gallery, which will travel to 16 Missouri cities through October, features photos of 250 foster children in Missouri who are looking for permanent, loving homes.
Thursday, May 15 - School Day at The K
Students from all over the area have the opportunity to go to class with the Royals by attending "School Day at The K." The WDAF-TV Fox 4 Weather Team and Sluggerrr lead the students in educational baseball fun!
Saturday, May 17 - TAKE DEFENSE Foundation - Defense Training
The T.A.K.E. Defense Training program provides young girls and women with hands-on self defense training that is provided by the Ali Kemp Educational Foundation as part of their mission to develop comprehensive programs for safety awareness for women of all ages. Royals Charities and Royals Wives are teaming up with TAKE DEFENSE for a self-defense training classes on the field at Kauffman Stadium from 10 a.m. to noon. The class will last two hours. In addition, the Royals are selling Royals Player calendars - featuring your favorite Royals player in every-day clothing - with all proceeds to benefit the Ali Kemp Foundation. In conjunction with the annual Royals Wives Food Drive on Friday, May 30, Royals Wives will hold a premier silent auction featuring one of a kind memorabilia to benefit St. James Place - a Kansas City food pantry and soup kitchen. The silent auction will take place between 5:30-8 p.m. behind sections 101-102 at Kauffman Stadium.

The Annual Royals Wives Food Drive will collect "kid-friendly" food to benefit Harvesters - the Community Food Network - and cash donations to benefit St. James Place - a Kansas City food pantry and soup kitchen. The Royals partner with the Nationals Sports Center for the Disabled and the Kansas City Parks & Recreation to present a free interactive camp that allows kids with disabilities, either physical or developmental, who are ages 6-18, to experience first hand the sport of baseball. Saturday, May 31 - Yabuta Visits Kansas City Japanese School
Royals pitcher Yasuhiko Yabuta will visits students from the Kansas City Japanese School from noon to 1 p.m. at the Kansas City College and Bible School at 7401 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, Kan. The Kansas City Japanese School is an institution providing education in the Japanese language to Japanese children residing in the Kansas City area.

More than 5,000 students submit essays entitled "What My Father Means to Me" through the National Center for Fathering's, "Royals Father of the Year" contest. The winning authors and fathers are treated to a game and recognition during a special pre-game ceremony.

Saturday, June 7 - Sluggerrr Visits Alex's Lemonade Stand
Sluggerrr will appear at two local Hy-Vee stores in support of Alex's Lemonade Stand and the fight against childhood cancer. On June 6-7, Alex's Lemonade Stands will be at all Kansas City area Hy-Vee stores as part of the national Alex's Lemonade Weekend. Last year’s stands in Kansas City raised $80,000 for childhood cancer research. Sluggerrr will appear at the Hy-Vee store located at 301 NE Rice Road in Lee's Summit, Mo. at 9 a.m. and will visit another Lee's Summit location (310 SW Ward Road) at 10 a.m.

Prior to cheering on the Royals in the series opener against the Texas Rangers, Sluggerrr joins the National Center for Fathering at the 2008 Celebration of Fatherhood. Friday, June 20 - Royals Salute Kansas City Star Scholar Athletes
The Royals salute more than 100 high school seniors from across the metro – the 2008 Kansas City Star Scholar Athletes – prior to the series opener against the San Francisco Giants. The students have been chosen from their high school as individuals who excel in both athletics and academics. The overall winners – Allison Mayfield of St. Thomas Aquinas and Riley Reynolds of Blue Springs South – will throw out a special ceremonial first pitch.
Saturday, June 21 - Pitch, Hit & Run
Young baseball players have the opportunity of a lifetime by competing in the sectional finals of Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit & Run competition at Kauffman Stadium, after earning the opportunity at local competitions.
Sunday, June 22 - Salute to the Negro Leagues Day
The Royals and the Giants will wear replica jerseys honoring the Negro Leagues in the annual Salute to the Negro Leagues. The day will include several tributes to the Negro Leagues, while the first 20,000 fans in attendance will receive a Replica Monarchs Cap.
Monday, June 23 - PLAY Clinic at Kauffman Stadium
The Royals host a PLAY clinic for pre-selected area youth at Kauffman Stadium. The clinic is led by the Royals sports medicine staff and will also feature appearances by Royals players Brian Bannister, David DeJesus, Jimmy Gobble and Jose Guillen as well as Manager Trey Hillman.

The Royals host a special silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind memorabilia to support prostate cancer research. The auction will take place in Section 101-102 on the main concourse at Kauffman Stadium. Items to be auctioned off will include memorabilia signed by Royals players and other players throughout the Major Leagues! Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Royals Charities.
Saturday, June 28 - Art Stewart Hall of Fame Induction
Art Stewart, the Royals Senior Advisor to General Manager Dayton Moore, will become the 23rd member of the Royals Hall of Fame in a special pre-game ceremony prior to the Cardinals-Royals game on Saturday, June 28. The ceremony will begin at 5:45 p.m. and be emceed by Royals Hall of Fame broadcaster and 2007 Ford Frick Award winner Denny Matthews.

More than 6,000 area elementary school children who achieve perfect attendance throughout the academic school year are honored at the game. The Royals salute these dedicated students with a special recognition and their names in the Royals GameDay magazine, sold within Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals host the Ban Johnson All-Star Game, an event the team has hosted since 1969, prior to the Royals-Mariners game. Many of the top college ball players from around the Kansas City area participate in this summer wood bat league, and the best have the chance to play at "The K."
Sunday, July 13 - Youth League Day
Through the George Brett Youth Baseball & Softball Program, young baseball and softball players from area youth leagues will get tips straight from the pros! An on-field demonstration on baseball fundaments will take place prior to the Mariners-Royals game. Representatives from the various leagues will then be invited to be part of a special pregame ceremony before taking in the series finale.

Royals players and coaches host a special baseball clinic at Kauffman Stadium from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for athletes from Special Olympics Kansas City Metro, Special Olympics Kansas and the Down Syndrome Guild.

The Royals grant the wish of a Dream Factory child by providing a unique game-day experience that includes a meet and greet with Royals players. Their Royals experience will appear on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast in the "Dream Factory" segment.
Thursday, July 24 - Girls' Night Out
Every woman needs a night out with friends and we've got the perfect game plan! Join the Royals, the American Heart Association and 98.1 KUDL for a special Girls' Night Out. All ladies are invited to a special pre-game Happy Hour, featuring free chair massages, scrapbooking clinics, wine tasting and cheese, player interviews and more! Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Heart Association. The first 20,000 females through the gates will receive a free Pink and White Rhinestone Royals Cap.

Thursday, July 24 - Royalty Fields Check Presentation
Royals Charities will present a $5,000 check to Southern Youth Sports Baseball from Blue Springs Neb., through the Royalty Fields grant program. The Wymore Little League Baseball Team, sponsored by Southern Youth Sports Baseball, will accept the check on the field prior to the Royals-Tampa Bay Rays game. Through the Royalty Fields program, Royalty Charities provides financial support to help improve baseball and/or softball facilities throughout the six-state Midwest region.

Catcher John Buck hosts children from Cornerstones of Care in the "BUCKAROOS" section for Friday's Dodge Buck Night. For each Dodge Buck Night this season, Buck will treat kids who are part of the State of Missouri Foster Care System to complimentary tickets, food coupons and special "BUCKAROOS" T-shirts. Friday, July 25 - Buses for Baseball
The MLB Players Association hosts children to baseball games in all 30 ballparks through the Buses for Baseball program. Children from Guadalupe Centers, Inc. will receive tickets, souvenirs, food and transportation to the Royals-Tampa Bay Rays game.
Saturday, July 26 - TeamSmile Event for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City
The Royals team with Willie Wilson Baseball and TeamSmile to provide free dental health education, screening and treatment to pre-registered kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City Thornberry Unit. Former Royals players John Mayberry, Frank White and Willie Wilson will be at the event visiting with the young dental patients.

Prior to the game, select Royals players meet fans and sign autographs from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the lower seating bowl of Kauffman Stadium.

Friday, Aug. 1 - Back to School Drive
The Royals help disadvantaged kids in our community experience the excitement of getting new supplies for the first day of school. Royals Wives and volunteers collect school supplies and cash donations prior to the Royals-White Sox game at Kauffman Stadium.
Friday, Aug. 1 - Launch of the Commissioner's Initiative for Kids
The Royals join Major League Baseball to send kids to the ballpark through the Commissioner's Initiative for Kids program. During the months of August and September, the program will provide one million tickets to kids and community groups throughout all 30 Major League Baseball cities. In conjunction with the program, the Royals will make available 50,000 tickets to local non-profit children's charities and organizations.

Several Royals players, along with mascot Sluggerrr, join fans from across the region at Worlds of Fun Royals Baseball Fan Fest to celebrate the two Kansas City summertime traditions!

pre-selected youth from KCMO Parks and Rec. at North Kansas High School will learn the basics of the game from several Royals coaches and players.

The Royals partner with the Community Blood Centers to host the 16th Annual Royals Blood Drive, Aug. 4-8. All registered donors receive a pair of tickets to a 2008 Royals game as well as a commemorative T-shirt.

Saturday, Aug. 16 - TAKE DEFENSE Foundation - Defense Training
The T.A.K.E. Defense Training program provides young girls and women with hands-on self defense training that is provided by the Ali Kemp Educational Foundation as part of their mission to develop comprehensive programs for safety awareness for women of all ages. Royals Charities and Royals Wives are teaming up with TAKE DEFENSE for a self-defense training classes on the field at Kauffman Stadium. The class will last two hours. Time of class still to be determined. In addition, the Royals are selling Royals Player calendars - featuring your favorite Royals player in every-day clothing - with all proceeds to benefit the Ali Kemp Foundation. As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, the event will feature a special pre-game concert and other festivities. A portion of each ticket purchased through the Group Sales Hispanic Heritage Night program will benefit the Guadalupe Center.

The Royals are hosting the fifth annual Coat Drive prior to the Royals-White Sox game. Royals Wives and community volunteers collect winter coats at Kauffman Stadium, accepting both new and gently used coats for both men and women in sizes ranging from infant to adult.
