January 2009 - Royals Caravan
The Royals will celebrate the New Year with a winter tradition -- the Royals Caravan! Royals players, coaches, alumni, front office staff and Sluggerrr will visit several communities throughout the Midwest in anticipation of the 2009 season. Each winter, the Caravan visits schools, hospitals, shopping malls and radio stations to meet with fans across the Heartland.
Jan. 26 - DeJesus Named Guadalupe Centers, Inc., Spokesperson
DeJesus will join Guadalupe Centers, Inc., (GCI) for the announcement on Monday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. on the second floor of the Guadalupe Center administrative building, located at 1015 Avenida Cesar E. Chavez in Kansas City, Mo. At that time, GCI will also announce its new partnership with the Mexican Consulate office in Kansas City.

April 6 - Opening Day
Royals open the 2009 season against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.
April 10 - Royals Home Opener - Grand Re-Opening of Kauffman Stadium
Royals host the New York Yankees and celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Kauffman Stadium. Game time is set for 3:10 p.m.
April 10 - Greater Kansas City Day
On Opening Day, the Royals team up with more than 1,600 volunteers to sell a special Royals edition of the Kansas City Star throughout the city. Proceeds from the sales help send kids to Rotary Youth Camp and other deserving children's charities.
April 11 - "Welcome Home Celebration" at Kauffman Stadium
Join the Royals at Kauffman Stadium for a special celebration to honor 40 years of baseball in Kansas City and the start of a new season!
April 13 - Welcome Home Luncheon
The team returns to Kansas City to join more than 700 fans at the 2009 Welcome Home Luncheon at The Hyatt Regency Crown Center to help launch another season of big league action at Kauffman Stadium. During the luncheon, fans welcome back their favorite players, meet the newest Royals and get an exclusive look at the 2009 season!
April 15 - Jackie Robinson Day
The Royals join Major League Baseball in honoring Jackie Robinson.
April 24 - Concourse Auction
Each month during a home game, the Royals host a silent auction in the concourse at Kauffman Stadium. The auctions, which benefit Royals Charities as well as area charities, feature select Royals memorabilia that fans bid on and take home with them that night after the game.
April 24 - Baseball Tomorrow Fund Check Presentation
The Baseball Tomorrow Fund, which partners with the Royals for the Baseball Equipment Drive, will present the Guadalupe Centers, Inc. with a $5,000 donation. The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is designed to promote and enhance the growth of baseball by funding programs, field improvements and equipment, along with encouraging youth participation in baseball and softball.

April 25-26 - Baseball Equipment Drive
Royals Wives and volunteers from the Guadalupe Centers, Inc., host the Baseball Equipment Drive to benefit the youth baseball programs organized by the Guadalupe Centers, Inc. Prior to the game, fans can donate their gently used or new baseball and softball equipment before entering the stadium.
April 28 - Legends Luncheon
The State Farm Legends Luncheon Series, a monthly event that features guests from Major League Baseball, returns for its 10th season. All proceeds of the State Farm Legends Luncheons benefit the
Buck O'Neil Education and Research Center.
April 29 - RBI First Pitch Event
The Royals host the annual RBI First Pitch event in the Royals Hall of Fame suites during the Royals-Toronto Blue Jay game. More details coming...

May 2 - T.A.K.E. Defense Class at Kauffman Stadium
The T.A.K.E. Defense Training program provides young girls and women with hands-on self defense training that is provided by the Ali Kemp Educational Foundation as part of their mission to develop comprehensive programs for safety awareness for women of all ages. Royals Charities is teaming up with TAKE DEFENSE for a self-defense training classes on the field at Kauffman Stadium.

May 6 - Dream Factory
Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wish of a Dream Factory child. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, meet Royals players, witness batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.
May 7 - Fox 4 School Day at The K
More than 20,000 students, teachers and parents are expected to take part in the special field trip hosted by the Royals and FOX 4 WDAF-TV - the official weather station of the Royals. The largest weather presentation in the country, designed for grades K-12, starts at 10 a.m. and features a meteorology lesson from Fox 4 Chief Meteorologist Mike Thompson and the entire FOX 4 Weather Team, as well as meteorology assistant Sluggerrr. Participants will then watch the Royals take on the Seattle Mariners.
May 14 - Girls' Night Out supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Prior to the Kansas City-Baltimore game at 7:10 p.m., the Royals will host a Girls' Night Out event to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

May 18 - Royals Celebrity Golf Tournament
Royals Charities host the Kansas City Royals Celebrity Golf Tournament at The National, giving fans the opportunity to play golf with current Royals Players and Alumni. The popular tournament benefits Special Olympics of Kansas City Metro.

May 30 - Operation Blessing-Two Teams, One Goal:
The Royals join forces with the Kansas City Chiefs to feed more than 3,000 needy people in Kansas City. Along with more than 200 volunteers, the clubs will distribute Operation Blessing's food and toys from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the former Interstate Bakeries parking lot (30th and Troost) in Kansas City, Mo. The event is not open to the public.

June 7 - KC Star Scholar Athlete Reception
The Royals host the KC Star Scholar Athlete Reception at Kauffman Stadium, recognizing the top high school student athletes in the area.
June 12 - Kansas City Sky Show
The second annual Kansas City Sky Show will again pay tribute to the people, history and heritage of Kansas City. Following the Royals game against the Cincinnati Reds, the Kansas City Sky Show will light up the sky at Kauffman Stadium.
June 14 - Father of the Year
More than 5,000 students submit essays entitled "What My Father Means to Me" through the National Center for Fathering's, "Royals Father of the Year" contest. The winning authors and fathers are treated to a game and recognition during a special pre-game ceremony.
Monday, June 15 - Gloves For Kids
Hosted by Royals Announcer Ryan Lefebvre's Footprints Foundation, Gloves for Kids will take place at Dick's Sporting Goods on 119th St. and Nall Ave. in Leawood, Kan., from 6-8 p.m. Brian Bannister, Billy Butler, David DeJesus, Mark Teahen and other Royals teammates will join Lefebvre to sign autographs for fans who donate at least $20 toward new baseball gloves for underprivileged youth baseball players.

June 19 - Royals Concourse Auction Benefiting Prostate Cancer Foundation
The Royals host a special silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind memorabilia to support prostate cancer research. Items to be auctioned off will include memorabilia signed by Royals players and other players throughout the Major Leagues!

July 6 - Ban Johnson All-Star Game
The Royals host the Ban Johnson All-Star Game, an event the team has hosted since 1969. Many of the top college ball players from around the Kansas City area participate in this summer wood bat league, and the best have the chance to play at "The K."
July 17 - Royals Concourse Auction
The Royals host a special silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind memorabilia to support a local charity. The auction will take place during the game on the concourse of Kauffman Stadium.
July 17 - Royals Hall of Fame Classic presented by Willie Wilson
The Royals host the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic presented by Willie Wilson. Wilson, inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 2000, and his roster of all-time Royals greats will take on a team of MLB All-Stars in an exhibition game prior to the Royals-Rays 7:10 p.m. matchup. Proceeds from the game benefit TeamSmile, which provides dental care to underprivileged children in the Kansas City community.

July 17 - Royals Hall of Fame Classic presented by Willie Wilson
Prior to the Royals Hall of Fame Classic, the Royals will partner with Willie Wilson Baseball and TeamSmile to host a free dental health education, screening and treatment clinic at Kauffman Stadium.

July 19 - Youth League Day
Through the George Brett Youth Baseball & Softball Program, young baseball and softball players from area youth leagues will get tips straight from the pros! An on-field demonstration on baseball fundaments will take place prior to the Rays-Royals game. Representatives from the various leagues will then be invited to be part of a special pregame ceremony before taking in the series finale.
July 20-24 - 17th Annual Royals Blood Drive
The Royals partner with the Community Blood Centers to host the 17th Annual Royals Blood Drive, July 20-24. All registered donors receive a pair of tickets to a 2009 Royals game as well as a commemorative T-shirt.

The Royals host the sixth annual Royals Coat Drive to benefit the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. Royals Wives and volunteers will collect both new and gently worn coats that are clean and in good condition. Coats of all sizes - adults, boys, girls, toddlers and infants - are welcome.
Sept. 26 - Shirts Off Their Backs
Royals Charities will host "Shirts Off Their Backs" to allow fans the opportunity to win an autographed jersey right off the back of their favorite Royals player! Throughout the game, volunteers will sell instant win scratch tickets. Following the game, winners will be escorted to the field where they will receive a game-worn jersey directly from one of the Royals.
