Royals open the 2010 season at home against the Detroit Tigers.

April 5 - Greater Kansas City Day
On Opening Day, the Royals team up with more than 1,600 volunteers to sell a special Royals edition of the Kansas City Star throughout the city. Proceeds from the sales help send kids to Rotary Youth Camp and other deserving children's charities.

Wednesday, April 7 - Welcome Home Luncheon
Baseball is in the air, and the Royals invite you to celebrate the return of the Boys in Blue at the 2010 Welcome Home Luncheon presented by Sprint and co-sponsored by Teva Neuroscience! The event lineup will feature your favorite players, the newest Royals, and an exclusive look at the upcoming season.

Friday, April 9 - 50/50 Friday
A new addition to the Royals Charities lineup in 2010! 50/50 Friday is a charity raffle program whereby tickets are sold throughout the ballpark. One lucky fan takes home half of the net proceeds from that night's raffle ticket sales, with the other half benefiting Royals Charities and a local Kansas City charity. More Info »

Saturday, April 10 - Wear Blue for Kids
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and encourage individuals and communities to support children and families. In support of this cause, the Royals are encouraging all fans to wear blue to the April 10 game against the Red Sox.

Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24 - Baseball Equipment Drive
The Royals and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund team up to collect new and gently used baseball equipment for local youth organizations in the area. In addition, the organization selected to receive the items will receive a $5,000 grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. More Info »

For each Sunday home game, Royals Director-Groundskeeping and Landscaping Trevor Vance hosts select children who have a parent deployed through the United States military efforts overseas to join the Royals Grounds Crew as part of the Royals Troopers program. Saturday, May 1 - T.A.K.E. Defense
Royals Charities is one again teaming with 98.1 KUDL, 99.7 FM and The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation to host a T.A.K.E. Defense self-defense class on the field at Kauffman Stadium. The class is free of charge and open to females ages 12 and older. Participants must pre-register online here. Participants under the age of 18 will also need a signature from a parent or guardian to participate.

Friday, May 14 - 50/50 Friday
In partnership with the Royals annual food drive, select Royals will sign autographs for fans who donate $5 or five cans of food on Friday, May 14 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Independence Hy-Vee (4545 Noland Rd.) and Raytown Hy-Vee (9400 E. 350 Hwy.) locations. This event is in support of the Hy-Vee Food Drive, which will benefit the Bishop Sullivan Center.

Friday, May 14 - Girls' Night Out to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Grab your girlfriends and come out to the first Girls' Night Out event of 2010, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The first 10,000 females through the gates will receive a Royals t-shirt. Saturday, May 15 - Operation Blessing
The Royals join forces with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hy-Vee and Operation Blessing, to feed more than 3,000 needy people in Kansas City. Under the motto "Two Teams: One Goal," the clubs join more than 200 community volunteers to distribute Operation Blessing's food and toys to those who need it most.

YMCA and Children's Mercy Hospital and Clinics team up with the Royals to encourage kids to make healthy lifestyle choices. YMCA Healthy Kids Day offers kids and families the opportunity to play fun games together, learn cool exercises and get tips on choosing healthy foods, all while enjoying the fun of Kauffman Stadium. The event is part of the YMCA's mission to promote being active as a family and other habits that lead to overall wellness and healthier living. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is celebrated across the country and is the nation's largest health day for children and families.

Saturday, May 22 - '85 Classic
The Royals will commemorate the 25th Anniversary of its historic World Series victory in 2010 with a month-long series of special events and promotions. The celebration begins with the second annual '85 Classic presented by Farmland Foods, which will feature the 1985 World Series Royals Alumni in a softball game against members of the 1985 St. Louis Cardinals prior to the Royals-Rockies 3:10 p.m. matchup. Sunday, June 6 - Father of the Year Game
More than 5,000 students submit essays entitled "What My Father Means to Me" through the National Center for Fathering's Royals Father of the Year contest. The winning authors and fathers are treated to a game and recognition during a special pre-game ceremony. Winners will also be recognized at a reception at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday, June 10.

The Royals and the City of Kansas City (Mo.) Youth Advocacy Office team up with the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) to host a free PLAY (Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth) clinic at Kauffman Stadium. Royals players will join members of the Royals sports medicine staff to lead pre-selected youth in baseball fundamentals and exercises.

The Royals are hosting the seventh annual Coat Drive prior to the first two games of the Indians-Royals series. Royals Wives and community volunteers collect winter coats at Kauffman Stadium, accepting both new and gently used coats for both men and women in sizes ranging from infant to adult. More Info »

Friday, October 1 - Minor League Award Winners Make Community Appearances
The Royals Minor League Pitcher and Player of the Year award winners will visit the Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City from 9-10 a.m. where they will assemble packages for sick children and their families as part of the "There's a Monkey in My Chair" program. Following the assembly, the group will visit children at Children's Mercy Hospital from 10:15-11:15 a.m. Please note that these are private appearances. The group will also tour the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in the afternoon before participating in an autograph session for fans prior to receiving their awards in a special on-field ceremony.

Saturday, October 2 - Shirts Off Their Backs
Royals Charities will host "Shirts Off Their Backs" to allow fans the opportunity to win an autographed jersey from a Royals player! Throughout the game, volunteers will sell $1 instant win scratch tickets. Following the game, winners will be escorted to the field where they will receive a game-worn jersey directly from one of the Royals. More Info »

Tuesday, October 5 - KC Sports Media Challenge Set for October 5
The Royals and Fox Sports Kansas City are teaming with FSKC broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre for the KC Sports Media Challenge to benefit The Salvation Army and an orphanage for homeless children in Haiti. The celebrity bowling fundraiser is set for 7 p.m. at Lucky Strike in the Kansas City Power & Light District. Fans are invited to come out and cheer on their favorite Royals Alumni and Kansas City sports media personalities. Fans can also do their part to help our less fortunate neighbors here at home and around the world by donating new or gently-used winter items, children's clothes and supplies. The Royals team up with the Topeka/Shawnee County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and Wal-Mart for the annual Christmas with a Cop event. Royals mascot Sluggerrr Claus and Topeka area law enforcement shop with children from Big Brothers/Big Sisters before visiting local hospitals.

Tuesday, December 14 - Royals Charities Holiday Party
Royals Charities hosts the second annual Kids Holiday Party at Kauffman Stadium. For the event, the club hosts disadvantaged children from area not-for-profit organizations for an afternoon of holiday activities including ornament making, cookie decorating, holiday card decorating and a visit from Sluggerrrr Claus. All of the kids will receive a gift from Santa and leave with a holiday stocking full of goodies.
