OPEN TRYOUT CAMPS

The Kansas City Royals will hold numerous open tryout camps around the United States beginning today at Ramapo College in New Jersey. A local Kansas City camp will be held on June 19 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan.

These camps are for players who were not selected by another major league organization in the 2009 June Free Agent Draft. American Legion players are required to bring a letter of permission to participate signed by either their Legion Coach or Post Commander.

Each player is required to sign a liability waiver. If a player is under the age of 21, a parent or guardian must also sign the waiver. A copy of the liability waiver may be found on the Royals website or you may e-mail Linda Smith, Manager-Scouting Operations, at linda.smith@royals.com. Copies will also be available on location at each tryout camp.

The Royals strongly recommend you attempt to attend a camp close to your home since you are responsible for your own expenses to and from the camp.

There is no registration fee for these camps. Please report promptly for registration one half hour prior to the time listed and bring your own personal equipment (shoes, glove, etc.). If you do not have a uniform, you should wear loose-fitting clothing, which will allow you to move freely.

Each camp will be conducted by the Royals scout responsible for coverage in that particular area of the country. Due to weather or other unforeseeable problems, any of these camps are subject to change or cancellation.
