Once again the Royals and Yankees met in a thrilling battle for the American League pennant with New York prevailing in four games. After splitting two games in Kansas City to open series action, the Yankees captured a pair of dramatic one-run verdicts at Yankee Stadium to secure their third straight AL crown. In one of the most memorable moments in ALCS history, George Brett blasted three consecutive home runs off Jim "Catfish" Hunter in Game 3 at New York.
