Linda Smith, Manager-Scouting Operations

Linda Smith enters her 42nd year in Major League Baseball after rejoining the Royals organization in 2001 as Manager-Scouting Administration. Her title was changed to Manager-Scouting Operations in 2004. Smith was given the "Special Recognition" award by the Greater Midwest Scouts Association in 2007 for her dedication and commitment to professional baseball especially in the realm of scouting and player development.

Smith is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the scouting department where she works closely with all of the organization's amateur scouts. Smith is also instrumental in the preparation and execution of the June Amateur Draft.

Prior to her current stint with the Royals, Smith worked with the Atlanta Braves from 1992-1996 as Administrative Assistant-Scouting and from 1997-2000 as the Administrative Coordinator-Baseball Operations. Smith spent the 1997 season as the Assistant to the Director of Scouting for the Texas Rangers. During her first tenure with the Royals from 1972-1992, she worked in public relations, group sales, marketing, and scouting and player development.

Smith earned her bachelor's of science degree in business education from Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. She resides in Lee's Summit, Mo.
