Front Office biographiesKyle Vena, Baseball Operations Assistant Kyle Vena begins his 17th season with the Royals, his second in his current position. Vena assists the Scouting and Player Development staffs in all facets of the club's amateur scouting and minor league operations. This includes preparation and execution of the Amateur Draft, evaluation of the minor league system, implementation and maintenance of the club's developmental programs, statistical analysis and budgetary procedures. Vena also works closely with the club's International Operations, administering the immigration program for all foreign players and staff and the budgets for the club's academy in the Dominican Republic. Vena began his baseball career as a batboy before moving to the clubhouse to assist the Royals clubhouse manager in day-to-day operations in 2001. He was hired as the Baseball Operations Intern in December, 2005, and was promoted to Baseball Operations Assistant in October, 2006 before assuming his current position last October. While in college at the University of Kansas, he served as the student assistant coach for the Jayhawks Baseball team. A member of the Missouri Bar, Vena graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in December, 2005. He received a bachelor's degree in sports management from the University of Kansas in 2002. Vena graduated from Blue Valley Northwest High School in 1998. He resides in Leawood, Kan. with his two children, Peyton and Owen. |
