The Royals invite fans to Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, June 2nd for a Kansas City Athletics salute in conjunction with the Royals-A's game at 1:10 p.m. The first 20,000 fans in attendance will receive a vintage 1960 KC Cap courtesy of Taco Bell.
The Royals will salute the Kansas City A's by recognizing several former Kansas City A's players - including pitchers Diego Segui, Lew Krausse and legendary grounds keeper, George Toma - during a special pregame ceremony. In salute to Charlie O., the famous Missouri mule which Finley anointed as the team mascot while in Kansas City, fans will have an opportunity to take their photo with a Missouri mule outfitted with Charlie O.'s original blanket behind Rivals Sports Bar.
The festivities will also include a Kansas City A's video retrospective, which chronicles the history of the franchise while in Kansas City and features many of the revolutionary, and sometimes controversial, ideas introduced by late owner Charlie Finley. Video highlights will be shown on CrownVision including the history of Municipal Stadium, the colorful A's uniforms, the robotic rabbit named Harvey and some of the great players with connections to the Kansas City A's.
