February 8, 1956 > Longtime owner and manager Connie Mack dies at the age of 93. Known for wearing formal business suits in the dugout, the former catcher guided the Philadelphia Athletics to nine pennants and five World Series titles from 1901 to 1950. His career totals of 7755 games managed and 3731 wins are easily the best of all time.
