Rangers at the plate: Victor Diaz hit a two-run homer in the seventh, while Guillermo Quiroz homered in the fifth. Frank Catalanotto doubled in his first at-bat of Spring Training and doubled again in the fifth.

Royals at the plate: Ryan Shealy hit a three-run homer in the fourth. Ross Gload, who singled on Thursday, tripled to lead off the fourth and scored on Reggie Sanders' single.

Rangers on the mound: Starter Kameron Loe worked two scoreless innings, allowing one single. John Koronka was roughed up for six runs on six hits in 1 1/3 innings.

Royals on the mound: Gil Meche, a free-agent signing in December, threw three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and walking one. Dewon Brazelton allowed three runs on four hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly in two innings.

Cactus League records: Rangers 0-1; Royals 1-1.

Up next: The Royals and Rangers will play again on Saturday at Surprise Stadium. Left-hander Odalis Perez will start for the Royals, while right-hander Todd Wellemeyer is also scheduled to pitch. Vicente Padilla will start for the Rangers.
