Royals at the plate: Joey Gathright finished with two hits and three RBIs, including a bloop, two-run single in the ninth inning that gave the Royals their first lead of the afternoon. Billy Butler's run-scoring groundout was the only other Royals RBI, but Milwaukee rallied in the bottom of the ninth to snap Kansas City's winning streak at four games.

Brewers at the plate: Minor League catcher Nestor Corredor hit a game-winning, two-run single with two outs in the ninth as the Brewers snapped a two-game home losing streak. Prince Fielder went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in his second Cactus League game, and Laynce Nix hit his second spring home run. Johnny Estrada stayed hot with a first-inning RBI single, and has a hit in all eight of his spring games.

Royals on the mound: Zack Greinke made his first Cactus League start and surrendered three runs, only one of them earned, on five hits in three innings. He struck out the three Brewers batters he faced in his middle inning of work. The loss went to former Brewer Wayne Franklin, who surrendered two runs on two hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning.

Brewers on the mound: Chris Capuano was sharp in three innings of work, holding the Royals scoreless on two hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out two. Closer Francisco Cordero made his spring debut and worked a 1-2-3 eighth inning, but Jose Capellan and the Brewers lost the lead in the ninth when Kansas City's three-run rally was aided by third baseman Vinny Rottino's throwing error.

Cactus League records: Royals 5-4, Brewers 5-6

Up next: The Royals will be back home on Saturday, when Jorge De La Rosa starts against the Cubs' Ted Lilly in a matchup of left-handers. Mark Prior is also scheduled to pitch for the Cubs. Milwaukee continues its "homestand" against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Maryvale Baseball Park. Jeff Suppan will start against former Brewer Dana Eveland, who was traded to Arizona in November.
