PHILADELPHIA -- The day off on Monday helped, just not enough to allow Jimmy Rollins back into Philadelphia's lineup.

The reigning National League Most Valuable Player missed his sixth game with a sprained left ankle. He worked out early Tuesday, but still had difficulty moving to his left.

Save for a pinch-hitting appearance on Thursday, Rollins hasn't appeared in a game since injuring the ankle while scrambling back to second base on an eighth-inning pickoff attempt by Aaron Heilman two days earlier.

Manager Charlie Manuel said Rollins' status remains day-to-day, so the team is resisting placing him on the disabled list, something that would keep him out until at least April 25.

"We have to get him well," Manuel said.
