CLEVELAND -- The Indians can exhale. Matt LaPorta appears to be all right.

LaPorta, playing for the United States in the Beijing Olympic Games, was beaned in the head by China pitcher Chen Kun during Team USA's 9-1 victory on Monday and suffered a mild concussion.

All appears to be well, as LaPorta took batting practice before the Americans' 4-2, 11-inning victory over Japan on Wednesday and felt fine. He is expected to return to the U.S. lineup for Friday's semifinal game against Cuba, which will take place at 6 a.m. ET.

LaPorta, who will likely return to Double-A Akron once the Olympics are complete, is considered the Indians' top prospect after his acquisition in the July 7 trade that sent CC Sabathia to the Brewers. He is 2-for-15 with a homer and three RBIs in five Olympic games.
