Jim Sundberg and Rusty Greer, two members of the Rangers Hall of Fame, will represent the club at the 2009 First-Year Player Draft next month, when Texas will make the 14th pick in the first round.

Sundberg is currently the senior executive vice president for the Rangers, and this will be the third successive year that he has represented the club at the Draft.

"It's been something I look forward to every year, to represent the club and see some of the other veteran alumni players," Sundberg said. "There is a sense of excitement in the air -- it's one of those special events that I get to go to."

Sundberg, a first-round pick in the January supplemental Draft back in 1973, played for the Rangers from 1974-83 and again in 1988-89, when he was an All-Star catcher and a six-time Gold Glove Award winner. He is second in club history in games played and still ranks in the top 10 in a number of offensive categories, including at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, triples and walks.

Greer played for the Rangers from 1994-2002 and was one of the key players on three division championship teams in 1996, '98 and '99. His .306 career batting average is the sixth highest in Rangers history, and his .387 on-base percentage of the second highest. He is the only member of the Rangers Hall of Fame who played his entire career with the club.

MLB.com will offer live coverage and analysis of the entire First-Year Player Draft on June 9-11. MLB Network will broadcast the first round beginning at 5 p.m. CT on June 9 from its Studio 42 in Secaucus, N.J., and those 32 selections also will be simulcast live on MLB.com.

Beginning with the 33rd pick, up-to-the-minute on-air coverage from the remaining rounds will shift exclusively to MLB.com/Live, where host Vinny Micucci will be joined by MLB.com Draft expert Jonathan Mayo and Major League Scouting Bureau director Frank Marcos.
