Royals' Minors prospect suspended
Class A outfielder violates the league's drug policy
SEATTLE - Outfielder Nicholas Francis of the Royals' Class A Burlington, Iowa, club has received a 50-game suspension after a second violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for drug abuse.
The penalty was announced Thursday by the Commissioner's Office. The suspension is immediate.
Francis, 23, was batting .275 in 113 games for Burlington with 16 home runs and 66 RBIs. From Tallahassee, Fla., he was a 15th-round Draft choice in 2006.
