Royals outright J. Bannister to Omaha

Reliever was acquired from Rangers last season

11/09/09 2:51 PM EST

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals sent right-handed pitcher John Bannister outright to Triple-A Omaha on Monday, reducing their Major League roster to 38 players.

Bannister, 25, was claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers on Aug. 11 and was assigned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas. For the Naturals, he pitched eight times in relief with a 1-0 record and 5.02 ERA over 14 1/3 innings.

Earlier in the year he pitched for two Rangers farm clubs, Triple-A Oklahoma City and Double-A Frisco, with a combined 3-3 record and 5.96 ERA in 38 relief appearances.

Bannister has already agreed to a Minor League contract for 2010.
