The Royals will open Spring Training at 2:05 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 4, in the annual charity game against the co-tenant Rangers to benefit the Surprise Sundancers.

In fact, the Royals will play the Rangers in the first three games at Surprise. Then they won't oppose their complex neighbors until April 2-3 and those games will be at Arlington and Frisco, Texas, on the way home to Kansas City. The Royals will open the regular season at home on April 5 against the Tigers.

The Royals will have a total 31 Cactus League games, including 15 home games. There are two night games on the Arizona portion of the schedule but only one at Surprise, on March 30 against the Indians. Other clubs visiting Surprise will be the Giants, A's, Brewers, Padres, White Sox, Cubs, Mariners and D-backs.

The Reds are a Cactus League newcomer this season, becoming the 15th member. Although the Reds won't come to Surprise, the Royals will visit them at the complex they'll share with the Indians in Goodyear, Ariz., on March 8 in their first game away from Surprise.

Call 623-222-2222 or visit www.royals.com/springtraining to obtain a ticket brochure or for information on various season ticket packages. Mail orders will be accepted beginning Dec. 1. Individual game tickets will go on sale on Jan. 9 at 9 a.m. CT at the Surprise box office or by calling 800-745-3000.

For folks who can't wait for the games, pitchers and catchers will report to Surprise on Feb. 17 and begin workouts the next day. The full squad is due by Feb. 22 for the first all-hands-on-deck workout on Feb. 23.

This will be the Royals' eighth spring camp in Arizona after moving from Florida. Last year, they had an 18-14-4 record.

Reporting Dates
Feb. 17 - Pitchers and catchers report
Feb. 18 - Pitchers and catchers first workout
Feb. 22 - Full squad reports
Feb. 23 - First full-squad workout
