Second baseman acquired in Nov. 6 trade earns honors

KANSAS CITY -- Give this to the Royals: they know how to pick a winner.Chris Getz, acquired by the Royals in a Nov. 6 trade with the White Sox, was named the second baseman on Wednesday on the 51st annual Topps Major League Rookie All-Star Team on Wednesday.
Getz, a left-handed batter, hit .261 for Chicago with 31 RBIs in 107 games. He also stole 25 bases in 27 attempts.
His former White Sox teammate, Gordon Beckham, also made the team as the third baseman. Oddly enough, the Sox plan to move Beckham into Getz's spot at second base, while Mark Teahen, obtained in the deal for Getz and Josh Fields, takes over at third base.
Two other American League players were on the Topps team -- Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus and Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold.
National Leaguers named were Giants first baseman Travis Ishikawa, Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan, Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen, Mets catcher Omir Santos, Braves pitcher Tommy Hanson and Phillies pitcher J.A. Happ.
