Royals' tilt with Giants canceled
Hochevar's start pushed back to 'B' game on Monday
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Sunday's Cactus League game between the Kansas City Royals and the San Francisco Giants at Surprise Stadium was canceled because of rain.
The rainout delayed a pitching start for National League Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum. He was to open for the Giants against the Royals' Luke Hochevar.
As scheduled, Brian Bannister will start for the Royals against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday at Goodyear, Ariz. Kyle Farnsworth is expected to follow Bannister on the mound.
The rain also postponed a Sunday morning "B" game between the Royals and the Texas Rangers. Joakim Soria was scheduled to pitch for the Royals and the Rangers were to set to use outfielder Josh Hamilton, who's been out with a shoulder bruise.
The "B" game will now be played on Monday at 10 a.m. MT and will be started by Hochevar.
