Padres Member Clubhouse offers unique opportunities
Fan-loyalty program includes chances to meet legends and earn game-used items
Signups are underway for the Padres Member Clubhouse, a digital rewards program where fans earn points for their loyalty and then redeem them for prizes. You can just imagine the possibilities -- or simply ask John and Brian Hammond, who just got a dream day out of the deal.
The former was celebrating his birthday, and the latter made sure his father was celebrating it over a private lunch with Padres legend Randy Jones. They were able to eat with Jones, ask questions, hear stories, take pictures and get autographs. That was the latest example of the kinds of experiences being enjoyed by members of this new program.
"What an experience to relive memories with Randy; baseball and personal," John Hammond said. "I never thought that I would get to have lunch him. This is the best birthday ever."
"Talking baseball with a legend!" added Brian. "It was amazing to share this moment with my father on his birthday."
The resulting photo gallery says it all, and that is just a sample of what awaits as San Diego leads the way with a fan-loyalty program that is a natural for Major League clubs. Pad Squad for a day, on-field batting practice viewing and broadcast booth visits are just some of the unique experiences that Member Clubhouse users have been able to take advantage of this season.
In addition, fans are able to earn game-used bats, balls and jerseys, along with advanced access to such giveaway promos as the Padres' fedora hat.
"The Padres Member Clubhouse is an opportunity to be part of the Padres organization in a new and exciting way," said Alex Williams, the Padres' programs coordinator, marketing and brand development. "By interacting with the team on padres.com and Padres social media pages, members gain exclusive access and experiences that go beyond traditional rewards programs."
Let's say you want to do your holiday shopping at the Padres.com Shop in the weeks ahead, or you're joining the millions of fans who have signed up for MLB.TV. You can earn 10 points for every dollar spent. It takes two tokens to enter right now for a Jedd Gyorko game-used jersey, a promotion that runs through Saturday.
You also can win rewards simply by going through your usual social media routine. Register and connect Twitter with the Padres Member Clubhouse, and you can get points when you tweet from the box on that page. Tweet #PadresTacos as part of the club's Taco Tuesdays promotion for $1 tacos, and you get double points. Share Facebook and Instagram posts there to accumulate more points. Before long, you are having lunch with a legend as well -- or something like that.
"The Member Clubhouse enables our members to become an integral part of our online and social media community," Williams said. "They are more than just fans. They are part of the team; part of the San Diego Padres Baseball Club."
It is also a pretty good way to make Padres fans for life.
Consider the feedback of 3-year-old Edson James, who was in on that Randy Jones lunch at the former ace's restaurant. The boy said: "Randy shared his strawberry and I ate it."
