KANSAS CITY -- The three Royals finalists for the "All-Star Teachers" campaign were announced on Thursday.
MLB, Target Corp. and PEOPLE revealed Elizabeth Rogers, Megan Coone and Lindi Todd as Kansas City's finalists. Fans can vote for the winner at AllstarTeachers.com through June 29th.
The campaign recognizes outstanding current and retired teachers who have demonstrated an impact on their students and communities
The Royals' representative will join the 29 other MLB club winners for the All-Star Week activities and be honored during the pre-game ceremony of the 2014 MLB All-Star Game at Target Field, home of the Twins.
Royals release veteran pitcher Tomko
KANSAS CITY -- Brett Tomko's comeback bid with the Royals ended Wednesday when the team released the 41-year-old pitcher.
Tomko, who started 10 games for Kansas City in 2008, held a 3.80 ERA at Triple-A Omaha.
From his Reds' debut in 1997 to his last appearance in an MLB game (2011 with the Rangers), Tomko has played with 10 different teams.
In 397 career appearances (266 starts) he has 100 wins and a 4.65 ERA
