KANSAS CITY -- The Kansas City Royals are pleased to announce that outfielder Reggie Sanders, who signed a two-year deal with the club this offseason, is scheduled to attend the 14th Annual Baseball Forecast Luncheon on Friday, Jan. 27.

The luncheon, which is hosted by the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission, will begin at noon at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, located at 2345 McGee Street in Kansas City, Mo. Following the luncheon, Sanders will also make an appearance at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. The Royals Caravan group is scheduled to appear on 810 WHB's Between the Lines show live from the museum, located at 1616 East 18th St. in Kansas City. Fans are encouraged to stop by to meet the Royals group from 3-4:30 p.m. and enjoy a complimentary tour of the museum.

Sanders joins the Royals after spending his entire 15-year Major League career in the National League, including the past two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran outfielder hit .271 in 93 games for St. Louis in 2005, recording 14 doubles, 21 home runs, 14 stolen bases and 54 RBI. His 21 homers marked his eighth career 20-homer season, including his fifth straight. He is the only player in Major League history to hit 20 home runs for six different teams.

The 6-1, 205-pound right-handed hitter has been in postseason play six times during his career and appeared in three World Series (2001, 2002, 2004). He has played in the postseason three-straight seasons and in five of the last six seasons.

In addition to Sanders, five-time All-Star Mike Sweeney, starting catcher John Buck and Manager Buddy Bell are scheduled to attend the Baseball Forecast Luncheon. The event will also feature Royals Owner David Glass, President Dan Glass and Senior Vice President and General Manager Allard Baird. Broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre will emcee the program.

Sweeney will accept the 2005 Royals Player of the Year award at the event, the third such award of his career and first since 2002. The luncheon will also feature a question and answer session with Royals panelists and a sneak peak at the club's uniform changes, which will bring back a more traditional look for the upcoming season.

In addition, one lucky fan in attendance will win an exciting trip to Royals Spring Training in Surprise, Ariz. The trip will include a three-night stay at the Wigwam Resort & Golf Club, two Midwest Airlines tickets, and two tickets to a Royals game in Surprise.

Individual seats and tables of 10 are still available for the event. Discounts are available for Kansas City Sports Commission members and Royals Season Ticket holders.
