Royals celebrate Labor Day with a bang
Royals open series against New York with "Star Wars" fireworks show
KANSAS CITY -- The Kansas City Royals are welcoming the New York Yankees to
town with a Labor Day salute to Star Wars. The Monday night Labor Day festivities include a special edition "Star
Wars" Fireworks Spectacular Show and appearances from several Star Wars characters, who are on an 11-city
tour promoting the Sept. 12 DVD release of the Star Wars Trilogy. Each game of the three-game set, Sept. 4-6,
will have tickets starting at just $7 apiece!

Star Wars Night at "The K"
The Royals are celebrating Labor Day with a special edition Fireworks Spectacular Show! The bonus
Monday night fireworks show, courtesy of Hy-Vee and Pepsi, will follow the Royals 7:10 p.m. game with
In addition to the Fireworks Spectacular, the Royals will celebrate Star Wars Night at "The K" with
characters from the popular Lucasfilms Classics invading Kauffman Stadium. Darth Vader, Chewbacca,
Stormtroopers and Wicket the Ewok will meet and greet fans as they enter the ballpark and will also
participate in a special pre-game First Pitch ceremony. Fans are encouraged to get to the park early to see
the stars. During the game, randomly selected fans will have a chance to win Star Wars prizes including
the new DVD set.

Ringling Brothers Night at "The K"
The Royals have saved the best for last in their final T-Shirt Tuesday of the season. The first 20,000
fans in attendance when Kansas City plays the Yankees will receive the fan-favorite Powder Blue T-shirt
courtesy of Pepsi.
Clowns from the famed Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus will also be in attendance. The
Clowns will meet and greet fans prior to the 7:10 p.m. game, distributing red noses to kids while supplies
last. During the game, the Clowns will be at the Little K to "clown around" with the kids and sign
autographs, while randomly selected Royals fans of all ages will have a chance to win tickets to the
upcoming Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus in Kansas City, Sept. 6-10.
Wednesday, September 6 - New York Yankees vs. Royals at 7:10 p.m.
Roberto Clemente Day
Major League Baseball will celebrate the life and legacy of the late Roberto Clemente on Wednesday
when five-time All-Star Mike Sweeney will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony as the Royals recipient of
the 2006 Roberto Clemente Award. Sweeney is one of 30 nominees for the national Roberto Clemente
Award, which recognizes players who best exemplify the game of baseball through sportsmanship,
community involvement and positive contributions to their teams.
Royals Host Dream Factory Child
The Royals will grant the wish of a Dream Factory child at Wednesday's game. The child, who faces a life-
altering illness, along with his/her family, will meet Royals players in the dugout, watch batting practice before the
gates open, and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience will appear on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9)
10 p.m. newscast in the "Dream Factory" segment.
