Royals open all-Interleague homestand with Phillies and Cardinals
Club to honor 1980 World Series team; Treat fans to bobbleheads and T-shirt Tuesday

KANSAS CITY -- The Kansas City Royals return home for nine games of Interleague
play, starting June 8 with a weekend series against the Philadelphia Phillies and a tribute to the Royals 1980 World
Series team. The Royals then face the St. Louis Cardinals in the first of two series against their I-70 rivals this season.
Fans can pack the stadium with BLUE in the opener with a Royal Blue Gil Meche T-Shirt Tuesday sponsored by Sprint
Wireless. Kansas City closes out the homestand with a three-game set against the Florida Marlins, June 15-17.
Friday, June 8 - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

1980 World Series Commemorative Lapel Pin: First 20,000 fans.
Hy-Vee Pepsi Fireworks Friday: Fans get treated to a post-game fireworks courtesy of Hy-Vee and Pepsi.
Events:
1980 World Series Royals Alumni Autograph Session: Members of the 1980 American League Champion
Royals including George Brett, Dennis Leonard, Marty Pattin, Jerry Terrell, John Wathan and Frank White will
meet fans and sign autographs from 5:30-6:15 p.m. in the lower seating bowl of Kauffman Stadium.
Saturday, June 9 - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

Royals Hall of Fame Bobblehead Series #2 - Dennis Leonard: First 20,000 fans - presented by Dodge.
Prior to the game, Leonard will meet fans and sign autographs from 4:30-5:15 p.m. in the lower seating bowl of
Kauffman Stadium.
Sween Team at Kauffman Stadium: Mike Sweeney hosts youth from Church of the Resurrection in
Leawood, Kan., who will be located in the Sween Team area in the right field seats.
Events:
Royals and Chiefs Operation Blessing: Two Teams, One Goal: The Royals join forces with the Kansas
City Chiefs to feed more than 3,000 needy people in Kansas City. Along with more than 200 volunteers, the
clubs will distribute Operation Blessing's food and toys from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the former Interstate
Bakeries parking lot (30th and Troost) in Kansas City, Mo.

Sprint Wireless Fun Run: Fans of all ages can head to the field following the Royals Sunday afternoon
game against Philadelphia to run the bases in the Sprint Wireless Fun Run.

Events:
Gloves for Kids: Gloves for Kids is hosted by Royals Announcer Ryan Lefebvre's Footprints Foundation at
Dick's Sporting Goods from 6-8 p.m. in Leawood, Kan. Fans who make a $20 donation can take part in an
exclusive autograph session with Royals players such as John Buck, David DeJesus, Jimmy Gobble, Alex
Gordon, Ryan Shealy and Mark Teahen. Two one-hour sessions will occur featuring three to four players each.
The donations will help purchase new baseball gloves for underprivileged youth baseball players with a portion
of the equipment purchased being distributed to Greensburg, Kan., youth baseball programs. Also, each fan
who donates at least $20 will receive a $5 gift certificate for Dick's Sporting Goods.

College Nights: Both college and high school students score big with $5 Outfield Plaza tickets for
Wednesday night games all season long. Students will receive a $14 ticket for just $5 by showing their
student I.D. College Night tickets are available for purchase only on the day of the game at Kauffman
Stadium (no phone orders). Ticket windows open 90 minutes prior to game time.
Events:
Dream Factory: The Royals will grant the wish of a Dream Factory child. The child, who faces a life-altering
illness, along with his/her family, will have a unique game-day experience that includes a meet and greet with
Royals players. Their Royals experience will appear on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast in the
"Dream Factory" segment.
