Big events ahead for Royals
Various activities all lead up to club's first FanFest

"Mark Teahen ... Challenge Your Fashion" is a benefit fashion show set for 5:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Overland Park (Kan.) Convention Center. The event will feature live and silent auctions to raise funds for the YMCA Challenger Division Baseball Program.
Royals players planning to join Teahen include David DeJesus, Alex Gordon, Mark Grudzielanek, Joey Gathright, Zack Greinke, Gil Meche, Tony Pena Jr., Ryan Shealy, Billy Butler, Luke Hudson and Esteban German.
The players will model clothes and mingle with guests in support of children facing physical or mental disabilities. Tables are available for $3,000 and $1,500, and individual tickets are $150. For information, contact Betty Kaegel, Royals director of community outreach, at email@example.com.
At noon on Friday, Jan. 18, the 16th annual Baseball Forecast Luncheon will be held at the Downtown Marriott in Kansas City, hosted by the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission.
The following Royals award winners will be honored: Grudzielanek, player of the year; Meche, pitcher of the year, and Brian Bannister, special achievement.
Broadcaster Bob Davis will emcee the event, which also will feature manager Trey Hillman and general manager Dayton Moore. A Royals panel will answer questions from the audience.

Those events will set the stage for the first Royals FanFest, which begins a two-day run at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Overland Park Convention Center.
