So, who's better with the bat?
"If I had to handicap, I'd say Zack's got the best swing," manager Trey Hillman said, "but Brett will probably tell you it's him."
They can decide this weekend. Tomko, Greinke and Brian Bannister will all get the opportunity to hit in the Royals' three game series against the Florida Marlins.
Tomko is a .158 career hitter in 450 at-bats. Greinke's only hit in five at-bats was his homer, and Bannister is hitting .333 with two doubles in 15 at-bats.
All three have practiced bunting three times during the past few weeks, and they swung the bat for a while before the game on Wednesday.
"It was more athletic than I as expecting to see from all three guys," Hillman said. "They actually all looked like they knew what they were doing."
Tomko said they're all excited to get the opportunity to hit. He might even try to get the elusive home run.
"I'm a gap-to-gap guy," he said. "I've come close a few times. I've never really tried to."
