Aviles has successful elbow surgery
Royals shortstop eyes Spring Training for return to action

"It was what they thought it would be. Once they got in there they repaired it and now we'll see how long it takes to heal up," Hillman said.
Dr. Lewis Yocum performed the surgery in Los Angeles. Aviles will return to Kansas City to begin his rehabilitation with team physical therapist Jeff Blum.
Aviles hopes to resume playing by Spring Training next March.
After being the Royals' Player of the Year for his .325 rookie season in 2008, Aviles had what was termed a forearm strain and went on the disabled list this year. He played just 36 games and batted .183.
Aviles was moved from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list, leaving two open spots on the Royals' 40-man roster.
