After offensive outburst, Twins out to back Correia
Before Tuesday's game against the White Sox, the Twins had been limited to just three hits in three of their last four games and were averaging just 3.4 runs in June. Then they had a breakthrough, collecting 13 hits in a 7-5 victory. Wednesday's game at Target Field will show if Minnesota can sustain that offensive outburst.

Willingham back in lineup, returns to left field
Josh Willingham, who had a cortisone shot in his left knee on Saturday, returned to the Twins' lineup on Tuesday against the White Sox, starting in left field and batting cleanup.

Rookie level team's bus involved in fatal crash
The Twins' Rookie level Elizabethton's team bus was involved in a fatal crash early Tuesday in Jacksonville, Fla., but no one on the bus was injured, the club announced Tuesday.

Hicks making progress, but yet to run bases
Twins center fielder Aaron Hicks continues to make progress with his strained left hamstring and was out on the field taking batting practice and catching fly balls before Tuesday's game against the White Sox. Hicks, who has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 10, has started to participate in some light running drills, but has yet to run the bases.

Doumit's go-ahead double propels Twins to victory
Ryan Doumit laced a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning to help lead the Twins to a 7-5 win over the White Sox on Tuesday night at Target Field. Mike Pelfrey got a no-decision, giving up four runs over six-plus innings, while Joe Mauer had three hits, including a two-run homer in Minnesota's four-run first inning.

Mauer holds nice lead on Wieters among AL catchers
Twins catcher Joe Mauer remains the top vote-getter among American League catchers in the latest All-Star Game ballot update released Saturday night. Mauer, who is aiming for a sixth career All-Star Game appearance, has picked up 2,127,175 votes to lead Orioles backstop Matt Wieters, who ranks second with 1,615,625 votes.
