Royals come up empty
The Royals were shut out in consecutive games by White Sox pitching, leading to another series loss for Kansas City. The Royals haven't won a series since the last week in August against the Detroit Tigers. Billy Buckner worked in and out of trouble on Thursday, allowing six runs in six innings to take the loss.

Lance Broadway proved to be worth the 15th pick in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft. The right-hander threw six shutout innings, while striking out eight in his debut as a starter. Broadway tossed 97 pitches -- 62 for strikes -- to pick up his first career victory. Paul Konerko hit a three-run shot in the first to give the rookie an early cushion.
